Otfried Preußler, a world-famous German children's book author died on February 18, 2013 at the age of 89.

I met Otfried Preußler some years ago and he told me that he enjoyed Betty MacDonald's books very much. He was especially fond of Betty MacDonald's Nancy and Plum.

More than 50 million copies of Otfried Preußler's books have been sold worldwide and they have been translated in 55 languages.

Otfried Preußler's best-known works are The Robber Hotzenplotz and The Satanic Mill (Krabat).

My favourite is  The little Water Sprite.
