Betty MacDonald first british edition

Beat:

Brit, congratulations for finding this very special  first british edition of Betty MacDonald's book.

We are very curious to see the report and pictures.

I bet there are photos we've never seen before.

Regarding Eurovision Song Contest very strange and unfair votings it's true what has been already mentioned.
The swiss jury and this is very shameful indeed especially for me because I'm from Switzerland, ignored  magical Lena Valaitis with her very beautiful song Johnny Blue.
I know many Eurovision Song Contest fans in my country wrote to Swiss TV and told them how unfair it was.

The swiss jury acted this way because they thought Switzerland might win with Peter, Sue and Marc because Switzerland and Germany belonged to the favourites.

It didn't happen but Lena Valaitis missed deserved victory because of this unfair voting.

It's really kind of sad ( see also Italy in 1958, 1959, United Kingdom in 1968 and several more entries ).
Cliff Richard's Congratulations is the real winner of 1968 and norwegian singer Wencke Myhre who sang german entry 'Ein Hoch der Liebe' ( A Toast to Love )  should be second.
Wencke Myhre was wonderful and she got many points from UK jury but nothing from her homeland Norway. Isn't that sad?  What can you say? That's Eurovision.

My top 5 this year are: Serbia, Spain ( one of the best spanish entries ever), Germany, UK and Russia. I enjoy the russian grandmothers very much.
They are really cute but Engelbert is the much better singer ( but who cares at Eurovision?)  and he doesn't deserve this very bad result. Even my 13 year old daughter said she likes Engelbert's song.

Who is the Betty MacDonald Fan Club honor member who does a special Betty MacDonald journey at the moment?

We  hope to read more about this in next Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter.

My wife is a bit angry with me because I watch the Olympic Games in London  for hours and hours every day. I can't help but the Olympics are so exciting.

We loved the opening ceremony very much.

Congratulations, Untited Kingdom!

Many greetings to the international Betty MacDonald Fan Club fans in London.

Enjoy yourself and the Olympic Games.  I know you will.

Betty MacDonald Olympic Conference London 2012

Brit:

Stella, the Olympic Games in London are very exciting.

You can meet many Betty MacDonald and Mary Bard Jensen fans.

Today I purchased a first british edition of one of Betty MacDonald's books.
It's in perfect condition but the best is that there is a report about Betty MacDonald's life with photos inside.

I'm very happy to get it. This made my day!

You'll read my story and see the photos in next Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter August 2012.

Wishing you great Olympic Games,

Brit

I have a wonderful Betty MacDonald Fan Club surprise for you.

A beloved Betty MacDonald Fan Club honor member is visiting a very special region right now.

Guess, who is and which region I'm talking about?

No, I'm not talking about the Olympics  in London.

It'll be a great Betty MacDonald Fan Club gift.

Dear  Betty MacDonald Fan Club honor member, good luck and we hope to read about your unique experiences very soon.

Love to all of you

Sella

Betty MacDonald Olympic Games Meeting London 2012

Mats:

Welcome to our Betty MacDonald Olympic Games Meeting 2012 in London.

If you are interested in joining us, let us know, please.
( see my email-address in Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter July 2012, Page 1, A)

Wibke I agree. Opening Ceremony was unforgettable.
Yes, Mr. Bond and Queen Elizabeth are unique.
A brilliant idea.

We'd say: United Kingdom twelve points!

Bella, Carmen and other Betty MacDonald Eurovision Song Contest fans, Eurovision Song Contest history includes many very strange results and that's kind of sad.
We should change it if we only could!

I look forward to hear Beat's research on the swiss jury in 1981 when they robbed  Germany's very charming singer Lena Valaitis the deserved victory. Johnny Blue belongs to my all time Eurovision Song Contest favourites.

The UK entry with Engelbert belongs in TOP 5 with Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, Ukraine and Russia.

Have a good time in London,

Mats

Betty MacDonald's stove is dancing

Kristin:

A year ago we had this tragic in Norway.

The murderer didn' t reach his goal - we remain a democratic and very liberal country and we are very proud of it.

Bella, speaking of Norway I think of Norway's last place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 behind United Kingdom with poor Engelbert.

We have 50 % jury and 50 % phone calls. What do we receive?  A very unfair result!
My family and I like Engelbert's song very much.

Bella, there are lots of unfair votings in Eurovision Song Contest history.

I watched Eurovision Song Contest 1968 on YouTube yeasterday.
Excellent norwegian singer Wencke Myhre sang the german entry Ein Hoch der Liebe ( A Toast For Love) composed by Horst Jankowski who had a million seller with A Walk Through Black Forest.

Wencke Myhre was outstanding on Eurovision Stage in Royal Albert Hall in London.
She got many, many points from the UK jury but no points from the norwegian jury.
It's such a shame and I'm very ANGRY about this. What was the reason why?
Anyway - it's such a shame!

I have to tell you that scandinavian countries are very strong in the so called  neighbour votings.
I recently saw a documentary that scandinavian countries hadn't been very successful until ABBA won for Sweden with Waterloo in 1974.
Therefore Scandinavia decided to support each other in the votings to change this situation.
And the situation has changed, because Sweden won 4 and Norway 3 times although Norway has the all time Eurovision record in getting last place like this year. So we are used to it.
Denmark won with Olsen brothers. I like the song very much. Finland won with Lordi. I don't want to talk anything about this entry.

Bella, I agree on Lena Valaitis. A shameful example of Eurovision Song Contest voting.
Eurovision Song Contest fan Beat from Switzerland did a research on this and you'll hear from him very soon.
It's true what you said on Eurovision Song Contest 1958 and 1959.
They robbed Italy the victory crown twice, perhaps more often because Italy is my favourite in 1974 with Si. I like ABBA very much but Waterloo is their worst song.

Did you notice that the russian gammies only got 11th place from the jury votings but got  second place because of so many phone calls?
I had to laugh too when I saw their Stove dancing. This reminds me of Betty MacDonald's Stove.
By the way not only Stove was dancing during Eurovision Song Contest 2012.

Do you know that 14 international entries had been composed by swedish composers?
I ask myself: Do other countries have no composers of their own?

Anyway - my Eurovision Song Contest Top Ten is:
Sweden, Serbia, United Kingdom, Estonia, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Ukraine and Russia.

I have several very interesting articles on Betty MacDonald and Mary Bard Jensen.

You can read my story in one of the next Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletters.

Betty MacDonald Document

Bella:

I adore Betty MacDonald, Mary Bard Jensen, Alison Bard Burnett, Darsie Beck, Monica Sone, Wolfgang Hampel, Letizia Mancino and Gwen Grant.

We have the most wonderful Betty MacDonald Fan Club honour members.

Thank you so much for your great work.

We appreciate this very much.

It means so much fun to be a Betty MacDonald Fan Club member.

I collect Betty MacDonald items for years and I'll share a Betty MacDonald document in Betty MacDonald Fan Club Newsletter August.

I hope to receive lots of feedback. Thank you.

Betty MacDonald Fan Club Eurovision Song Contest meeting 2012 was very entertaining.

I hope to see you again very soon.

Some countries deserved to win Eurovision Song Contest more often.

I don't say this because I'm italian -  among them are for example Italy and Germany.
Imagine, in 1958 Volare only got third. Volare is one of the most successful songs ever.
What can you say? Listen to the other entries you can only laugh.
The same in 1959.

Carmen, 1981 was one of the most shameful Eurovision Song Contest votings ever.
Switzerland didn't give Germany's Lena Valaitis  a single point although her very beautiful song Johnny Blue was a huge hit there.

Because of this shameful voting Lena Valaitis missed the victory.

I like Sweden and Russia ( the russian Gammies are so funny, even Stove is dancing on stage, I had to think of Betty MacDonald's Stove when I saw it, Betty would have laughed, can you remember Germany's Guildo Horn in 1998 in Birmingham who was also very funny ) but the UK entry with Engelbert deserves a much better place.

My top ten includes Sweden, Russia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Poland,  Estonia and Latvia

Sunny Bella

Betty MacDonald Eurovision Song Contest Meeting 2012

Carmen:

I was reading Letizia Mancino's story in the morning.

Do you remember how Betty MacDonald describes morning and the differnet morning haters?
I'm such a morning hater but after reading Letizia Mancino's story I feel different.

The sun is shining and my stomach hurts because of my laughter.

The same happens when I'm reading Betty MacDonald's or Mary Bard Jensen's books.

I shouldn't forget our unique Betty MacDonald Fan Club couple Alison Bard Burnett and Betty MacDonald Fan Club founder Wolfgang Hampel visiting all the Bard family places in Seattle.

It's so great to be with Betty MacDonald's very witty sister Alison Bard Burnett and Betty MacDonald Memorial Award winner Wolfgang Hampel.

Watching them how much fun they have means such a joy and pleasure.

I enjoyed Betty MacDonald Eurovision Song Contest meeting 2012 very much.

My favourites are Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Spain, Italy and United Kingdom.
My mother who adores Engelbert for a long time nearly cried about his bad result.

Julia, you are right. Many excellent songs didn't win Eurovision Song Contest.

I can remember Eurovision Song Contest 1981.

My favourite entry is and was Lena Valaitis with Johnny Blue who was Nr. 2.
Lena Valaitis belongs to several singers who deserved to win Eurovision Song Contest.

Johnny Blue is one of the best Eurovision songs ever.

Betty MacDonald or Letizia Mancino

Julia:

Sina, thank you.

Wonderful news.

A new Betty MacDonald letter will make Betty MacDonald Fan Club letter collection even more interesting and important.

Vincent I agree with many other Betty MacDonald Fan Club members.

Answering the Betty MacDonald Fan Club Contest question isn't difficult. I'd say the opposite.

I don't know which story is better written, the one by Letizia Mancino or the one by Betty MacDonald.

Both are very witty and wise. Thank you.

I'm a devoted Eurovision Song Contest fan since childhood.

Many very good songs, for example Volare, Congratulations, Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein, Johnny Blue, Bonjour, bonjour and many, many others couldn't win Eurovision Song Contest.

What I want to say is that sometimes you don't understand the results at all.

The same happened with Engelbert. Great voice, good song and so less points

I like Sweden, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine. ( too less points also )

Betty MacDonald letter

Sina:

I had no problems to answer the Betty MacDonald Fan Club question.

The Betty MacDonald Fan Club Eurovison Song Contest 2012 meeting was one of the best because you could meet so many fascinating personalities. I made so many new friends there.

Vera, I don't agree. We heard many good songs.

My favourites are  the russian, serbian and german entry.

I feel sorry for Engelbert and United Kingdom because he sang very well and received only points from four countries.  It's a shame and nobody can understand the reason why.

I'll contribute a Betty MacDonald letter to Betty MacDonald Fan Club letter collection.

Best,

Sina

Betty MacDonald Contest

Vera:

Reading Letizia Mancino's story means a lot of fun.

I'd like to see Mr. Tigerli, Camembert and the other family members.
When can we see pictures. Oh please that would be so nice.

Thank you, thank you for writing this wonderful story for us.

Vincent, there is a letter by Betty MacDonald.

After reading it you can answer the Betty MacDonald Contest question.
I don't want to give you any more details because you have info enough now.

I was a huge Eurovision Song Contest fan in earlier times.
I'm not crazy about it today because of too many bad songs and most of them sound the same.

A star like Engelbert shouldn't attend a Contest like this.

Betty MacDonald Fan Club Contest is much more interesting.

I hope I can win a Betty MacDonald DVD or an autographed book by Letizia Mancino.

Vera

Eurovision Song Contest Meeting 2012

Max:

Vincent, a very good advice.

You can find a letter by Betty MacDonald in Betty MacDonald Fan Club letter collection where she writes about her experiences with Camembert.

Betty MacDonald even mentioned book and chapter. You can find it very easily.

Letizia Mancino's Betty MacDonald Fan Club contribution is a treasure of humor and wit.
Thank you, Letizia Mancino, Mary Holmes and Professor Dr. Cremer.
Oh please publish a Gallery of famous Mr.Tigerli, Camembert and the other members of the family.

        WE   LOVE   IT  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was great to meet you and other Betty MacDonald fans at the Betty MacDonald Fan Club Eurovision Song Contest Meeting in 2012.

Although Sweden won Eurovision Song Contest 2012,  my favourites are Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Germany and Spain.

The UK entry wasn't that bad. Engelbert's song deserved many more points. That wasn't fair at all but that's Eurovision.

What do you think, Vincent and dear Betty MacDonald fans?

So long,

Max

Betty MacDonald Contest question

Anna:

Vincent, don't be such a lazy guy.

You only have to reread Betty MacDonald's and Mary Bard Jensen's books and you can answer the Betty MacDonald Contest question.

It's a pleasure to do it but I advice you not to do it in the public because you can't stop laughing.

By the way I prefer seeing you with two ears instead of only one.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy Letizia Mancino's 'Camembert and I' story.

I love her italian style and charme.

Betty MacDonald Egg or Mouse

Vincent:

Letizia Mancino's new Betty MacDonald story is her best so far.

Golden humor!

We love it. Thank you so much. We had to smile and laugh all the time while reading it.

Stine, although we like Camembert we are not able to answer this rather difficult Betty MacDonald Fan Club Contest question.

There is nothing like this in Betty MacDonald's and Mary Bard Jensen's books.

Are you really sure?

A rather depressed Vincent still with two ears but I'd need your help.................

Betty MacDonald Fan Club Project

Lukas:

Nina and Nora:

It's a great idea writing about the real persons in Betty MacDonald's and Mary Bard Jensen's books.

Wolfgang Hampel's new fascinating interviews with Alison Bard Burnett and other family members might be very helpful for your Betty MacDonald Fan Club project.
They talk a lot about real persons in the books.

Reading Gammy's letter I have the feeling that Betty was Gammy's favourite.
What do you think?
It's kind of sad that Gammy passed away before Betty became famous.

Betty MacDonald Fan Club honor member Letizia Mancino is sharing her new Betty MacDonald essay.
When can we read it? What is it about?

Wishing you a great summer - some like it hot ( I don't)

Lukas
